I oiled Number Nine, and we are both fine

I read, on a Sunday, that a drum roaster runs better with a little oil in the right places. Number Nine has 2 right places. She also has several that very much do not want oil, and on the first try I found neither of the right ones and one I should not have touched at all.

Della has since walked me to the 2 spots that want oil and the several that do not. We cleaned the rest of it together without much being said, which is how I know it was bad. She does not lecture. She goes quiet and hands you a rag, and you understand.

The Thursday batch came out a shade smoky after all that. Rather than waste it, we put it on the board as a limited campfire roast, and a man bought a full bag and told me it was the best thing we have ever made. I have decided to take the win and never mention which Thursday.
