What we do not serve

We do not serve food. People ask about this more in the morning, when they are hungry, which is understandable. The answer is no, we do not have pastries, we do not have toast, we do not have anything to eat, and we are not planning to.

Adding food would mean a health permit, a prep area, a refrigerator, a display case, a rotation schedule, and a source, and all of those things would take up space and attention that currently goes to the coffee. We are good at coffee. We would be mediocre at food and good at coffee, which is worse than being very good at coffee.

There is a bakery 4 minutes from here on foot. We have told people this so many times that Theo wrote the address on a small card that lives on the counter. The card says: bread, good. That is the whole card.
